This includes exhaust ducts and hoods for kitchens. All Mechanical Unit Inspectors are certified as Mechanical Inspectors and Mechanical Plan Examiners, through the Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI). Mr. Laird and Mr. Velaski are certified through SBCCI for legal and management, while Mr. Velaski is also certified as Chief Mechanical Code Analyst and a Certified Building Official. Mr. Laird is responsible for plan reviews and Mr. McNab and Mr. Smith are responsible for inspections in the field. The current codes being enforced by the Mechanical Unit are the 2000 International Mechanical Code and the 2000 International Residential Code.
