Central Permitting is also responsible for the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy for both new residential and commercial construction, issuance of trade competency cards for electricians and plumbers. Central Permitting also maintains contractors’ bonds on file with City of Mobile. They are also responsible for verifying contractors’ local and state licensing requirements and maintaining a database of all permits issued in flood zones within the City.
