General Information
Plumbing Inspection is a unit of the Code Administration Section of the Urban Development Department. The plumbing unit is responsible for enforcing the International Plumbing Code and the City of Mobile Plumbing Ordinance. The safety of our citizens and visitors is our primary goal. We achieve this through the review of construction plans, site inspections, and the enforcement of adopted codes.

Business license with the City of Mobile, State general contractors license for work over $50,000. (click for State Licensing Board)
Certification requirements
State master plumbers license and City master plumber registration (note for the purpose of water heater installation only, a master gas fitters license will be acceptable). (click for State Plumbing Board)
All plumbers working on any construction site must be certified by the state and registered with the City of Mobile at their appropriate competency level (master, journeyman or apprentice). (click for State Plumbing Board)
