General Information
The Mobile Tree Commission was established in 1961 by the State Legislature for the protection and preservation of Mobile's trees and sets the standard on how they are to function within city government. The Mobile Tree Commission is not only one of the oldest tree commissions in the Southeast, but also one of the oldest in the Nation. What makes this Tree Commission unique is that violation of the code is not a violation of a city code, but of state law.
The Urban Forestry Section serves as the staff for the Mobile City Tree Commission and Liaison between this Commission and the public. The staff works to advise the Commission on requests for work involving trees located within the City's rights-of-way.
